A rescinded offer is one the employer withdraws before you start. Because offers are usually “at-will,” employers can often revoke them – but not for an illegal reason (discrimination) and not where you reasonably relied on the offer to your detriment, which may support a “promissory estoppel” claim. If you quit a job or moved based on the offer, you may have recourse.
