In October 2026, Andrew Lacy, Jr., founder of The Lacy Employment Law Firm, was invited to present a continuing legal education program titled “DEI and the Law: Where We Stand” as part of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s “Diversity Through the Decades” 2026 Summit, hosted by the PBA’s Multicultural Bar Committee through the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Presenting for the state’s premier CLE organization
The Pennsylvania Bar Association, founded in 1895, is the largest organized bar in the Commonwealth. Its continuing legal education arm, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, has trained Pennsylvania lawyers and judges since 1965 and is repeatedly recognized as the state’s leading provider of continuing legal education. Its programs are taught by practicing lawyers, judges, and law professors chosen for their command of their subject. Andrew was asked to be one of those presenters.
A command of one of the fastest-moving areas of the law
Andrew’s presentation traced the law of diversity, equity, and inclusion from the Supreme Court’s 2023 decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, through the 2025 federal executive orders and agency enforcement actions, the Supreme Court’s unanimous 2025 ruling in Ames v. Ohio Department of Youth Services, and into the 2026 wave of enforcement and litigation. Being trusted to brief a room of fellow attorneys on an area this current, and this contested, reflects the kind of working knowledge that comes from handling these issues firsthand.
Why this matters
When a bar association asks an attorney to teach its members, it is drawing on that attorney’s standing in the profession. Andrew’s selection to present at both the Pennsylvania Bar Association and, separately, the Philadelphia Bar Association places him among the practitioners the organized bar turns to on questions of employment discrimination and workplace policy.
