What conditions qualify for FMLA leave?

FMLA covers eligible employees for: the birth or adoption of a child; a serious health condition that makes you unable to work; caring for a spouse, child, or parent with a serious health condition; and certain military-family situations. A “serious health condition” generally means inpatient care or ongoing treatment for a condition that incapacitates you. You must work for a covered employer and meet hours and tenure thresholds to be eligible.
